NOMA: Oktoberfest at Wunder Garten - September 22 - 24

3rd Annual Oktoberfest at Wunder Garten
Beer garden resumes tradition of hosting largest locally run celebration

Wunder Garten at 1st & L St NE has announced the 3rd Annual Oktoberfest will begin Friday, September 22 and continue through Sunday, September 24. The celebrations include traditional German food, games, beer and family-friendly events (includes furry family members).
Each day will feature steinholding competitions along with a special lineup of events (see below). Draft beers in Oktoberfest Märzen-style hail from Bavaria's oldest breweries like Spaten, Weihenstephaner, Hofbräuhaus, accompanied by a select lineup of seasonal locally brewed beers. Throughout the weekend, Café Berlin will provide authentic German fare, including grilled bratwurst, bauernwurst, bretzels und obatzter, original potato salad, gurkensalat, and sauerkraut.

Friday, 4pm – 12am
  • 5pm: Taping of the first Spaten Oktoberfest Keg
Traditionally, each Oktoberfest begins with the mayor of Munich tapping the first keg of Spaten beer with the jubilant cry of “O’zapft is!” (“It’s tapped!”). Incidentally, the skill the mayor displays and the number of hammer blows he has to use, play a large role in his popularity.
  • 5pm to 10pm: Traditional live Oktoberfest music by “Die Drei Band.”
The festivities continue with live music, beer, food, and games.

Saturday, 12pm – 12am
  • 12pm to 4pm: Family Oktoberfest
Along with regularly scheduled beer drinking, Wunder Garten will offer games, face painting, ice cream and music for revelers of all ages.
  • 5pm to 10pm: The Big Oktoberfest Party
Saturday night will be a boisterous celebration and dance party with DJ Lehi and friends on the beats.

Sunday, 12pm – 10pm
  • 3pm: German Pig Roast
Back by popular demand, Cafe Berlin roasts a whole hog for Sunday Funday celebrants. Only available while supplies last.
  • 4pm to 9pm: Traditional live Oktoberfest music by “Die Drei Band.”
The weekend festivities will end as they began, with live music, beer, food, and games.
