Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar and The Cocktail Nation Will Host
First Annual Mixology Match on Tuesday, September 12th
Proceeds from this inaugural event benefit CORE (Children of Restaurant Employees), a national 501(c)3 charity whose mission is to grant support to children of food and beverage service families navigating life-altering circumstances.
Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar & The Cocktail Nation will host a fundraising cocktail competition to benefit CORE (Children of Restaurant Employees)*** on Tuesday, September 12th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This is the restaurant’s first fundraiser for this non-profit organization whose mission is to grant support to children of food and beverage service families navigating life-altering circumstances. Barry Gutin, principal and co-founder of GuestCounts Hospitality, LLC, which owns and operates Cuba Libre, serves on the board of directors for CORE so it is a cause close to his heart.
On this special evening, eight of the city’s leading mixologists will create a cocktail using one specific brand of rum from one of the following categories: white, añejo, spiced, flavored, 100% sugar cane, or dark. These libations will then be sampled by an expert panel of judges to include award-winning Mixologist Todd Thrasher and Wine, Spirits & Lifestyle Writer Kelly Magyarics. Attendees of the event will also have an opportunity to cast their vote after sampling each of the competing cocktails. Three prizes will be awarded: $400 for the grand prize and $200 for runner-up (selected by the judges) and $200 for the popular vote. The grand-prize winner will also be featured in the national publication in the Mix and NIGHTCLUB & BAR MEDIA GROUP, along with a trophy and bragging rights.

Tickets are priced at $40 per person, which includes unlimited samples of the eight competing cocktails along with three food stations, passed canapés and non-alcoholic beverages provided by Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar. Signature dishes to be served include Mamá Amelia's Empanadas, Arroz con Pollo, Frituras de Maiz con Cangrejo, Croquetas de Pollo, Spinach & Manchego Buñuelos, Albóndigas Cubanas, Octopus a La Parilla, Tres Leches Roto and Cuban Flan. Summer cocktail attire is encouraged for all guests.
