U STREET: TICO Introduces Tequila Flights & Winter Menu Items

TICO on 14th Street is now offering weekly tequila flights to highlight their bar program’s extensive selection of over 140 tequilas. The flights, which will rotate on a weekly basis based on seasonality, will include three 0.75 ounce pours of tequila or mezcal, along with a glass of sangrita for palate cleansing. Hand selected by Adrian Cane, TICO’s Assistant General Manager responsible for the beverage program, the flights will include either a selection of three different tequilas from the same brand, or three tequilas of the same category from different producers to help illustrate the variety of styles available. The new tequila flight program is aimed at highlighting a wide range of spirits from the menu, as well as introducing guests to lesser-known, unique brands and flavors. Some past examples of the tequila flights include Chinaco, the first brand to bring premium, 100% agave tequilas to the U.S., and Partida who ages their tequila in once-used Jack Daniels barrels. The weekly tequila flights are available seven days a week for $20 each at the bar and in the dining room. For more information, or to see the full list of tequilas, visit: http://www.ticodc.com/
TICO is also now offering a selection of new dishes that highlight ingredients and flavors of the winter season. The new items offer guests various seafood options, including small plates like Arctic Char Tiradito, Bass Ceviche and Shrimp a la Diabla Tacos. As a vegetarian option, the restaurant has added a winter arugula salad topped with roasted squash, seasonal fruit and toasted hazelnuts with a coconut vinaigrette. Furthermore, TICO’s winter menu additions include an entrĂ©e of Lomo Saltado – grilled strip steak with stir-fried peppers and onions with a rice cake and a sherry soy reduction.
