On September 23rd, the award-winning Hay-Adams, located steps from the White House at 800 16th Street, NW, 20006, will host its next Author Series luncheon honoring Jon Meacham to discuss his latest work, Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush.  The Hay-Adams Author Series, where literary crowds honor literary masters, is an on-going event, which hosts outstanding writers in a historic setting, directly overlooking the White House at Top of The Hay.  One will enjoy exceptional food, drink and lively conversation.  Tickets are priced at $85 per person (all inclusive), which includes a three-course, prix fixe menu with wine pairings.  The menu, themed around the book, will be created by Vice President & General Manager Hans Bruland working closely with recently appointed Executive Chef Nicolas Legret.

Additionally, Kramerbooks (http://kramers.com) will be on hand so guests will have the opportunity to purchase a copy of Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush, which Meacham can sign and personalize after the luncheon.  Tickets go on sale September 3rd and will be available online at: http://www.hayadams.com/author-series/washington-dc-author-events. Tickets can also be purchased via email at ekravchenko@hayadams.com or by calling (202) 835-2263.  Tickets must be purchased by September 19, and will not be available at the door.
Jon Meacham is executive editor and executive vice president at Random House, as well as a contributing editor to Time magazine and a commentator on politics, history, and religious faith in America.  He won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Biography for American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House.  Meacham also wrote Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power (2012), which appeared on many publications' year-end lists of the best non-fiction.
His newest book, Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush, raises the question whether everything about George H.W. Bush is outdated or whether he is a model the party and its president should return to—a noble kind of restraint in foreign policy based on diplomacy and a prudence in domestic affairs.
Jon Ellis Meacham was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he spent his high school years living with his grandfather, who gave Meacham his interest in history, literature, and politics.  He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in English Literature from University of the South in Tennessee.  Aside from his highly successful writing career, Jon Meacham is a dedicated husband and father.

The luncheon will be held on Top of The Hay on Friday, September 23rd, 2016, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. (doors open at 11:30 a.m.).
