Handcrafted, Custom Window Treatment Store to Open First DC Showroom in Cady’s Alley

A design showroom along the M Street corridor of Cady’s Alley is rolling up its shades. EastBanc, Inc. and Jamestown LP announced today that The Shade Store, a leading resource for custom window treatments, has signed a 10-year lease to occupy the retail space at 3324 M Street, NW. The 3,005-square-foot store will feature interactive product displays and will serve as the brand’s first DC showroom with plans for a grand opening slated for September 2016. Jason Flippo of CBRE represented The Shade Store in the deal.
The Shade Store is a third generation, family owned business that offers a huge selection of over 900+ materials for Roller Shades, Solar Shades, Drapery, and Roman Shades. Each of The Shade Store’s materials are handcrafted by skilled artisans in workrooms around the country and everything is hung and tested for quality assurance. Through their partnership with Kravet, The Shade Store offers consumers access to fabrics from designers like Jonathan Adler, Jeffrey Alan Marks, and Diane von Furstenberg in addition to an exclusive collection developed in collaboration with The Novogratz. To provide a seamless experience, The Shade Store employs a network of measure and installation professionals to ensure satisfaction with orders shipping in 10 days or less.
“After many years in discussion, The Shade Store and our partnership have finally found an opportunity to welcome the quality and service in home furnishings this storeroom provides,” said Philippe Lanier, vice president of EastBanc. “The Shade Store will complement the collection of design showrooms and retailers currently found in Cady’s Alley.”
The new Shade Store retail space will add to the extensive collection of distinguished home furnishing brands currently found in Cady’s Alley, upholding the retail locale as Washington’s epicenter of upscale fashion, design, furnishing and lifestyle goods. The deal is one of many in the recent EastBanc/Jamestown Georgetown Renaissance leasing activity that includes home retailers such as Resource Furniture, Donghia, Calligaris and Circa Lighting as well as fashion brands Ledbury, Bonobos and Rent the Runway. The Shade Store lease agreement rounds out the collection of home design retailers in Georgetown’s Design District, making it the optimal shopping quarter for all sophisticated home décor needs.
“Washington D.C. has always been a successful market for us and has been at the top of our list as we continue to expand our showroom presence. Georgetown is the perfect place for our brand,” said Ian Gibbs, Co-Founder and Creative Director of The Shade Store.
