The British production follows the remnants of a British Army platoon who reach the enemy trenches in WW1 and have to rely on their messenger pigeons to survive. The homing birds were seen as brave soldiers themselves, holding the rank of captain. They were used by both sides and were maintained by US and French military up to and including the Vietnam war.

The story is inspired by Lieutenant Colonel Gerald Blakeney De Courcy Ireland who not only went off to World War One as a fresh faced 19 year old and was recognized for his outstanding bravery - he also became King George V’s bodyguard and fought and survived in World War Two as well.

His great grand daughter, Director Evy Barry wrote the script after discovering he had been awarded the Military Cross for defending a British gun position against enemy tanks during the Battle of the Somme. She says:
‘The man versus machine aspect of his bravery intrigued me and I wanted to know how he would have got a message back to HQ about what had happened. That is when I discovered it would have been a pigeon who delivered it.’
The film has already had success on the festival circuit getting an honorable mention behind Oscar winner Stutterer at the Kino Manchester International Film Festival, a rising star award at the Canada
International Film festival and playing at Maryland International, Green Bay and Veterans Film festivals.
