PENN QTR: Take Mum to Brunch in Havana this Mothers Day at Cuba Libre - Sunday May 8th

Cuba Libre, located at 801 9th Street, NW, will offer its popular a la carte brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Mother's Day.

Standout dishes prepared by Executive Chef Brad Smith include;
  • One-Eyed Ropa Vieja Hash, classic Cuban shredded beef brisket stewed with tomatoes, bell peppers, and red wine on a hash of Yukon gold potatoes, boniato, maduros and corn, topped with a fried egg;  
  • French Toast a la Cubana, vanilla custard soaked brioche bread with maple syrup and panela soaked sweet plantains, topped with whipped cream;  
  • Pork Fried Rice con Huevo, Napa cabbage kimchi with Spanish Chistorra sausage and Berkshire pork belly fried rice, topped with a fried egg;  
  • Crab Cake Benedict Croqueta with jumbo lump crab-meat and potato cake, poached egg, avocado mash and tomato hollandaise sauce, as well as  
  • Churrasco Steak Slider, all-natural Black Angus skirt steak burger with pickle fritz sauce, chipotle-onion marmalade, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato, served on a brioche roll with boniato chips.  
A la carte menu items are priced from $6.25 to $15.75.  

For the perfect pairing, Moms can indulge in delectable cocktails such as the Havana Hottie, Cuba Libre's award-winning Bloody Mary with dark rum or vodka, tomato juice, strawberry purée, white wine, balsamic vinegar, ginger purée, basil, and habanero chilies; Classic Mimosa; Mimosa Rojo with Cava, fresh watermelon juice, and a splash of guarapo; Lychee Mimosa with lychee liqueur, Cava, a splash of Guanabana aqua fresca and a splash of guarapo, as well as Red and White Sangria, and Agua Fresca.  Brunch cocktails are priced from $5 to $9.

Additionally, all mothers will receive a rose and complimentary glass of Cava upon arrival.
