CAPITOL HILL: Ambar Adds 19 Bottles to Its Popular Rakia Tasting Challenge

Ambar, the nation’s capital’s first Balkan restaurant is pleased to announce that 19 new bottles have been added to its popular Rakia Tasting Challenge. Ambar's Rakia menu includes classic versions of the beverage, produced by distilling fermented plums or apricots, as well as unique varietals made from cherry, pear and even honey. Over the course of six months, guests have the opportunity to complete a Rakia Tasting Card. Those who finish 1.5 ounces of all 52 Rakia flavors are eligible to win a grand prize of a special 750 ML Rakia bottle. Fans won’t want to miss the opportunity to sample new additions such as Gruzanska nit Plum; Gruzanska nit Quince; Kruna Grape; Zaric Quince; Zaric Plum; Zaric Raspberry; Zaric Pear; Zlatna Apricot; Zlatna Quince, and Zlatna Plum. Rakia ranges in price from $8 to $12. 

Completion is only possible if guests sample each flavor listed on the Rakia Tasting Card and there are incentives along the way with tiered prizes, which include: 
  • Once 10 Rakia Tastings are complete, the guest receives a complimentary 1.5-ounce pour of Rakia (which is not eligible for a stamp towards the 52 total). 
  • Once 20 Rakia Tastings are complete, the guest receives another complimentary pour (which is not eligible for a stamp towards the 52 total). 
  • Once 52 Rakia Tastings are complete, the guest receives a personalized 750 ML Rakia bottle, which will be stored in a private locker with a nametag to be enjoyed at the restaurant. Guests can select the flavor of their choice based on availability. 
Additionally, fans of the restaurant will receive a $50 gift card by participating in Ambar’s social media contest. Diners must submit a minimum of five photos via Facebook and Instagram documenting five separate Rakia-related experiences at Ambar in addition to meeting the criteria for the Rakia Tasting Challenge as referenced above.
