WASHINGTON DC: January at Pizzeria Paradiso

Pizzeria Paradiso has released information on upcoming beer events at Pizzeria Paradiso in January, including tap takeovers, a guided “off flavor” tasting, and a beer can art competition.
So to help you plan ahead here are all the events......

"A New Beer For a New Year”, January 1st, all three locations
All three locations will tap a new beer and serve $4 pours on January 1st, 2016. Tentatively, the below will be served:
  • Dupont: Right Proper Baron Corvo, a Bière de Garde style beer
  • Georgetown: 3 Stars Brandy-Lyn, a blend of bourbon barrel aged cider and brandy barrel aged beer
  • Old Town: Lickinghole Creek Chai Tea Virginia Black Bear
Monday Night Beer Club, January 4th, Georgetown
For a special Monday Night Beer Club, beer director Josh Fernands will lead an "off flavor” educational beer tasting from 6pm-8pm downstairs at Birreria Paradiso. Fernands will guide attendees through a tasting with accompanying food that will walk through identifying off flavors in beer, a tasting flight spiked with aforementioned off flavors and a 9" pizza from the menu. Tickets are $38 per person and available here: 


Parkway Brewing Company Tap Takeover, January 14th, Old Town
In Old Town, from 5pm-close, Pizzeria Paradiso Old Town will host Virginia’s Parkway Brewing Company for a tap takeover, to include:

Firestone Walker Tap Takeover, January 23rd, Georgetown
Starting at noon on January 23rd, Georgetown will host California's Firestone Walker Brewing Company for a tap takeover, to include the following:

  • Firestone Walker XVIIII
  • Firestone Walker Velvet Merlin
  • Firestone Walker XVII
  • Firestone Double DBA
  • Firestone Sucuba

2nd Annual Can Art Contest, January 24th, Old Town, 12pm - close
In January 1935, the first can of beer was sold. To commemorate, Pizzeria Paradiso will host their second annual “Can Art Competition,” whereby entrants create original art made of craft beer cans. The art must be made primarily of craft beer cans, but other material may be used to reinforce, create structure or as an adhesive. Art must have a footprint no larger than 3x3 feet. All pieces must be submitted by January 25th to the Old Town location. The lineup of judges will be forthcoming, and entrants should email joshfernands@eatyourpizza.com with name and contact info.
The first place prize will be one pizza a week for a whole year at any of Pizzeria Paradiso's locations, and a signed copy of “Canned!” by Russ Phillips. The winning art will be displayed at one of the Pizzeria Paradiso locations for the year.
The second place prize will be a $50.00 gift certificate to Pizzeria Paradiso and a signed copy of “Canned!” By Russ Phillips. Second place will be determined by popular vote.
