SHAW: The Colonel on 9th Street NW Adds Some Street Art of its Own

Its not often that an apartment building fills its blank walls with art, but the Colonel on 9th Street NW has done just that, in the courtyard of their new apartments...neat!
The two pieces sit side-by-side and look to be outsize copies of 60's/70's Concert Posters advertizing Chuck Brown at the Masonic Lodge on U Street and Fats Domino (note the low billing for Little Richard) at the DC Armory
Nicely done by the artist (I don't know who that is - checking) a couple of pieces of DC pop cultural history. You can view the wall through the gates of the building on N Street NW. I am guessing that you will have to request entry from building management to get up close and personal.

If you know who the artist is - please let me know so I can give them a 'shout-out'

  1. It looks very much like the artwork inside of Baby Wale. That artwork was done by Chef Powers' wife.
