SHAW: Chaplin's Restaurant Introduces Brunch Menu on Weekends

Shaw Neighborhood Japanese Restaurant and Bar Now Serving Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Buranchi-lovers get excited – that’s Japanese for brunch. Chaplin’s Restaurant, the Shaw eatery that specializes in authentic Japanese fare, is joining Washington’s elite brunch scene and offering weekend diners new and original breakfast/lunch plates with a Japanese twist – something that DC has never seen or tasted before. Beginning this weekend, Chaplin’s original brunch is offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Brunch-goers can enjoy breakfast-like ramen dishes while sipping on half off Chaplin’s signature frozen drinks or Chaplin’s style mimosas featuring Veuve Clicquot and G.H. Mumm Champagne with three different fresh pressed juices.
Executive Chef Myo Htun has tweaked his signature ramen bowls and has created DC’s newest Japanese brunch offerings. During brunch hours, diners can order any Ramen dish of their choosing with either poached or stamina eggs. All dishes will be served with authentic Japanese bacon. One ramen bowl, “Tan Tan Men” normally includes ramen noodles, ground pork, bok choy, sesame paste, hot sesame oil and miso. However, Htun switched things up and swapped sliced pork belly (Japanese Bacon) for ground pork and add a poached egg to make a quintessential, newly-designed Chaplin’s menu item.
Htun began his culinary career in Tokyo, Japan at Zao Stamina Ramen where he served as executive chef. There he learned and mastered a host of Japanese cooking techniques and specialty ramen bowls. In 2010, Htun relocated to Washington, DC with his family, where he began gracing DMV area foodies with his creative ramen dishes at Ren’s Ramen of Wheaton, Md. With Htun’s helming the kitchen, Ren’s Ramen was selected as one of Washington’s “best cheap eats” three years running in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Htun joined Chaplin’s from its conception in 2014 and has delighted Washingtonians and visitors alike with his distinguished authentic Japanese menu.

Culinary experts and mixologists, Michah and Ari Wilder, brothers and co-owners of Chaplin’s Restaurant, have combined their expertise in the food and beverage world with Htun’s gastronomic talent to perfect drink and dish pairings. Guests can “sip and sup” on Chaplin’s new frozen cocktails like the Devils Pass and the Tokyo Tea (pictured above) which pair well with select brunch menu items. Large parties and couples alike will enjoy Chaplin’s brunch champagne/mimosa specials: $45 Veuve Clicquot or $39 G.H. Mumm are each served with three petit carafes of yuzu, tangerine and strawberry-rosemary fresh pressed juice. The regular drink menu will be available as well.

Brunch will be served every weekend on both Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Chaplin’s highly encourages reservations for parties of five or more.
