MVT: MVTCID Hosts Annual Meeting; Highlights Economic Development and Announces Public Service Award

The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVT CID) today hosted its Annual Board and Membership Meeting. MVT CID President, Claire Schaefer Oleksiak, and members of the Executive Committee led the meeting, which was held at the Association of American Medical Colleges headquarters building at 655 K Street, NW in Washington, DC.

The annual meeting provided an opportunity for MVT CID stakeholders to network and celebrate the year's initiatives and programs. Introductory remarks were made by AAMC President and CEO, Darrell G. Kirch, MD and the keynote was given by Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Included in the program were awards for the Mount Vernon Triangle Clean Team Ambassadors, recognition of Metropolitan Police Department Officers David Leaty and Joel Charles for their work in the community

and the presentation of the annual Public Service Award to Kids in the Triangle (KITT) parents’ group founder and leader, Michelle Martin.

“The Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood continues to grow and thrive as retail, residents and tenants are attracted by the central location, an array of amenities, friendly, clean and safe streets, and high quality public space and architecture,” said MVT CID President, Claire Schaefer Oleksiak. “In the coming year, I look forward to working with the Board and our stakeholders to welcome 10 new retail establishments, plan for enhanced park spaces, focus on neighborhood culture and arts, encourage strong economic development and continue to provide a clean and safe public realm of the highest quality.”
