CityCenterDC: Retail, Restaurants and Spaces

Back in February I started a blog-post stream about the retail business' coming to CityCenterDC. It has been a very popular posting, and has gone through quite a few updates. I posted a 2nd article primarily about the restaurants. Its about time to combine all the stories and rumors into one. So I have decided to reboot the article, and update as much as I can based on published "Coming To"

First lets review what has been publicized.

Park at City Center is open /includes water features /and events have started

Finally, the announced hotel. The Washington Post recently had an article that started a buzz about (the much rumored) Conrad Hilton.

"For more than a year, Hines, the lead developer of City Center, has been in discussions with Hilton to build a Conrad hotel in the second phase of the project. The project, which will face New York Avenue east of 10th Street, is planned to have about 370 rooms. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2015.
A Conrad hotel would add to City Center’s vibe as an exclusive section of downtown. Conrad Hotels & Resorts is Hilton’s contemporary luxury brand, named after its founder, Conrad N. Hilton. The brand has been focused mostly on international markets, with only four open so far in North America, in New York, Chicago, Miami and Indianapolis.
The project would also give Arlington native Christopher J. Nassetta, chief executive of Hilton Worldwide, a second shot at a high-end downtown hotel after losing the Old Post Office project...."
"Hines declined to comment on unannounced retailers or its hotel partner"
All of this maybe true, but this is still speculation, and way off before any construction begins.

So that is the latest word....As new retail and restaurants are "officially announced" by CityCenterDC I will modify/update this posting (only)
