Fundrise (Crowd Sourcing) and 1539 7th Street NW.

Update 3/27/2014: Content

"Fundrise's Newest Crowdfunding Project In Shaw Is Now Live". According to CurbedDC "As of earlier this morning, investors and neighbors from Maryland, Virginia and D.C. have already bought $13,200 worth of shares for this "boutique retail rehab" as of this posting."and "potential neighborhood investors, buy in is $100 per share". Good stuff.

Fundrise are probably a little more known for its investments on and around H Street NE, but that is not the case. Fundrise, a crowd-sourcing company, is also testing the waters for 965 Florida Ave NW and now
According to BISNOW, Fundrise is getting in on the action on 1539 7th St, a retail rehab project, and the firm will open up investment to the public in a few weeks.
"1539 7th Street NW, Washington, DC, is currently vacant. The developer, WestMill Capital Partners, plans to lease the building to a local retail or restaurant business. Once a lease is signed, the tenant will begin construction to upgrade the building for their proposed use. Once construction is complete and the tenant is open for business, they will begin paying monthly rent. WestMill estimates that it will take approximately 6 - 9 months to complete the leasing process."
It will be interesting to see whether there is community support/investment interest in this property, it would seem like a safe bet, considering the "pop" that this block is about to go through (1539 7th Street NW is next door to Bar/Restaurant Ivy and Coney)
Something new for the Badwolfdc to watch and report on........
