Something Funny is Happening in Shaw!!!!!

Hopefully I am not getting to far out of my comfort zone here...but something funny is really happening in Shaw....LYGO DC is now performing regularly in the Shaw neighborhood.....and it is something Shaw residents (and others) need to check out.
Ah explanation! LYGO DC...this is a community of local stand up comedians that started as just a brunch + comedy show (hence the original name, "Laugh Your Grits Off") and they've grown rapidly over the last 2 years. Providing a high quality comedy club experience at a you're-a-regular-here price, they've become a bridge between local and touring comedians, media organizations, performance venues and charities, that has now found its way into Shaw and U Street. Three venues currently have show's -  a "combination of top-tier DC comedic talent, mimosas, great music, and bacon." Brunch at the Shaw's Tavern on Saturday's, along with Happy Hours (yes the true meaning of Happy) at Old Dominion Brewery, and weekly shows at Bier Baron.
OK Pics...gotta have pics ...right? (just the 1st  3 on the LYGO DC website)

At Shaw's Tavern every Saturday,  is where the DC's brunch and comedy show happens. LYGO DC bring you "Wake & Bacon" ... Bacon, Booze, and Laughter.  Live comedy and brunch, a DC original show every Saturday from 2-4:30 p.m. (Brunch service from 2-3, show from 3-4:30)
At the Old Dominion Brewhouse Stage, ODB Live! every Thursday in the newly refurbished lounge and show room. "This live comedy, DC show goes down every Thursday at the Old Dominion Brewhouse Stage, ODB Live"
And every Wednesday and Thursday LYGO DC presents a live DC comedy show at the Bier Baron. (*Warning: Comedy shows sometimes contain naughty language and potentially offensive ideas. It is intended for a good time but please attend at your own risk!)

LYGO DC is not all laughs. They have teamed up with a number of DC Charities and have provided support to local and city wide efforts. These include OneBrick DCN Street VillageOperation Renewed Hope FoundationD.C. Different DrummersAsian-Pacific Island Domestic Violence Resource ProjectYWCANakid Sports and more;
"In June 2013, we started a partnership with the DC Lawyers for Youth. These personal friends are true champions for the children! The DCLY were founded by alumni of the Georgetown Juvenile Justice Clinic in 2007. Since then, they’ve expanded to include lawyers, teachers, social workers, mentors and non-profit managers. Their mission is to improve juvenile justice in the District. They utilize input and participation from the entire community, including youth, parents, teachers, judges, police and more. It’s all about promoting DC youths’ success!"

So come out and have a good time, help the artists, help the city and be a part of re-creating a "comedy centric" DC tradition. Its been a while since the "comedy" scene headlined in DC, time to check it out....
