Xtend Barre DC in Blagden Alley

There is a section of Blagden Alley that is about to explode in activity, it will first become a building site, then a 'hot spot'. If you know Blagden Alley and the area around Rogue24 then you know where! This is where La Colombe Coffee is building out its space, Where the "Gang of Three" planned restaurant will face the alley, and if it ever gets off the ground, Fino Italian Restaurant.
Little known (except for current clients) in this same area is Xtend Barre DC, a Pilates and Barre Studio.
Diagonally across from Rogue24, the very attractive entrance to Xtend Barre DC
I had the opportunity to chat with Kelly Griffith, the owner, and one of the instructors at Xtend Barre DC, who explained to me a little about what Xtend Barre is all about (also see video below), "We teach a multi-level class geared to challenge bodies of any age, gender, or fitness background (ideally, but not limited to 18 -50 age group). We offer exercises that can be modified for beginners, prenatal clients or clients with injuries, but that can also be amplified for advanced clients that are looking for an extreme challenge. The Xtend Barre system sculpts the body proportionally so that all body parts are equally challenged. This total body workout serves to strengthen, lengthen, and stretch the body from top to bottom, from inside out. The end result is a long and lean physique… without added bulk."
From the Reception desk all through the facility a bright and clean feel
Developed from a Dance / Pilates background, the Xtend Barre workout combines the results of dance with the principles of strength and safety in Pilates.
The studio itself is devoid of the normal trappings you expect in a gym, it is bright and open but intimate in size.
Voted as one of 2012's hottest trends in fitness by CLEO Magazine "Xtend Barre Dance class meets Pilates in this energetic combination of floor work, light weights and resistance balls. Loved by Madonna and Drew Barrymore." and "Best Abs Exercises of All Time" by Shape Magazine.
Blagden Alley and Shaw have an internationally acclaimed fitness studio right on its doorstep, shame not to take advantage of it.
