In an earlier post I talked about how we lose our street art in DC due to
property transition. In this post I am looking at another way that street art disappears, although this transition is by the artists choice.
A few weeks ago Old City Green (now Old City Farm and Guild)
reopened its doors in Shaw. As part of their opening celebration the street artists of
Albus Cavus, who created the original art for Old City Green, painted over their earlier work in a demonstration of his street art process. So now the originals have gone, forever, replaced by a new set.
The photo-set for the opening, with the artists in action belong to Albus Cavus, I am waiting for permission to use. Till then here is the

Unless you reach the notoriety of Banksy or Shepard Fairey, street art and artists are fleeting, the art and its message constantly changing, which in my mind is a good thing, but I am also sad for the loss.
